Opening of new Sub-D.R. Depots

It was identified that most of the D.R. Depots were away from the habitations and the tribal card holders were trekking long distance of 10 to 15 KMs to fetch their requirements. With a view to reduce the long trekking distance to get their Essential Commodities, the Govt. have taken a decision to create more number of New Sub-DR depots in addition to the regular and old sub-depots in tribal areas which will be managed by Village Organizations (VOs) in coordination with GCC and IKP. The new sub-depots were proposed in such a way that the tribal need not travel more than two (2) to three (3) KMs.

Accordingly, (93) New Sub-DR depots have been opened so far out of which, (85) new sub-depots presently functioning by Self Help Groups identified by IKP. Identification of SHGs is under process for balance (38) sub depots with the help of APD-TPMU-IKP, Eturnagaram
